The PH2S Mentorship Program runs on a quarterly basis, with each program cycle spanning approximately three months. The application period for the program opens in August, allowing interested individuals to apply and express their interest in becoming mentors or mentees. After the application period, the program closes and officially starts in October, at which point mentor-mentee pairings are established.
Once the three-month program cycle concludes, the mentorship program enters a brief hiatus. However, we reopen applications for the next program cycle, offering new opportunities for individuals to participate and join the program as mentors or mentees.
In the mentorship program, mentees and mentors will be paired in a 1:1 or 1:2 ratio, and it is important that both parties maintain professional and appropriate relationships. Initiating contact and guiding the communication throughout the program towards their goals is the shared responsibility of the mentee and mentor.
During monthly meetings, the mentee and mentor should have individual discussions to set goals for the upcoming month. These goals should encompass the activities to be undertaken and establish a timeframe for their completion. Mentors are also expected to record brief meeting details in the provided Google Sheet to track volunteer hours.
At the conclusion of the mentoring period, surveys will be distributed to evaluate the success of each mentor-mentee relationship. Relationships demonstrating exceptional rapport, dedication, and overall quality will be recognized for excellence during the virtual award ceremony event, with additional promotion on our social media accounts.
In summary, the responsibilities of mentees include:
Scheduling and conducting virtual meetings with the mentor at least twice per month or on a monthly basis.
Defining monthly objectives during these sessions or as required through alternate communication methods.
Consistently staying in touch with the mentor through different communication platforms (text, email, phone calls, FaceTime, Zoom, etc.) over the quarter.
Submitting a quarterly assessment at the end of the program to provide updates on progress, goals, and overall program effectiveness.
On the other hand, the responsibilities of mentor include:
Scheduling and conducting virtual meetings with the mentee at least twice per month or on a monthly basis.
Defining monthly objectives during these sessions or as required through alternate communication methods.
Consistently staying in touch with the mentor through different communication platforms (text, email, phone calls, FaceTime, Zoom, etc.) over the quarter.
Documenting concise meeting particulars within the designated Google Sheet to log volunteer hours, maintain responsibility, and supervise goal advancement.
Submitting a quarterly assessment at the end of the program to evaluate the mentee's development and overall program effectiveness.
